Job Description

Our client is one of Kenya’s fastest-growing non-bank lenders, offering secured credit solutions to individuals and MSMEs. We are seeking a driven, IT Officer to spearhead our IT department.

Key Responsibilities

1. System & Network Installation: Setting up new hardware, software, operating systems, printers, servers, and network equipment like routers and switches.
2. Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnosing and resolving issues with hardware, software, and network connectivity for users and systems.
3. User Support: Assisting employees with technical difficulties via phone, email, or in-person.
4. Maintenance & Upgrades: Performing routine maintenance, security upgrades (firewalls, antivirus), and necessary system upgrades.
5. Monitoring: Monitoring computer systems, networks, and servers to ensure optimal performance and identify potential problems.
6. Inventory & Documentation: Maintaining records of IT equipment and creating or updating technical documentation and user manuals.
7. Backups & Data Recovery: Performing regular data backups and implementing recovery solutions.

Requirements

  • · Diploma or bachelor’s degree (IT-related field preferred).
  • · At least 3 years’ experience in a similar field.
  • · Strong understanding of hardware, software, and network systems.
  • · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support and train end-users.
  • · Results-driven, proactive and highly self-motivated.
  • · High integrity, strong ethics, and commitment to maintaining data security and IT compliance standards.

 

The scope of IT role is broad and encompasses:

  • · Hardware: Managing desktops, laptops, servers, printers, and network devices.
  • · Software: Installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems and application software.
  • · Networks: Setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs).
  • · User Support: Acting as the first point of contact for technical help desk issues.
  • · Security: Implementing security measures like antivirus and firewall updates to protect systems.
  • · Documentation: Creating and maintaining vital records of IT assets and solutions for reference.
  • · Emerging Technologies: Staying updated on new technologies and integrating them into the organization's IT environment
