About the training

NGOs and the Public Sector complement each other in promoting effective governance, risk management, and compliance practices. By working together, they contribute to building resilient and transparent governance systems that serve the interests of society as a whole.
NGOs often collaborate with governments, international organizations, and other stakeholders to address complex governance challenges, share best practices, and promote collective action. These partnerships between Public Sector and NGOs have led to more effective solutions and greater impact.

NGOs and the Public Sector face several unique challenges in implementing effective Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) practices including complex regulatory environment, budget constraints, legacy systems and processes among other challenges.

Yet, amidst these challenges lies the opportunity for innovation and improvement. Building and strengthening institutional capacity within these sectors is therefore paramount. Through strategic investment in capacity building initiatives, these sectors can cultivate a workforce equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate complex financial and regulatory landscapes efficiently and ethically.
Moreover, the pursuit of efficient, effective, equitable, and ethical sectors is not merely an aspiration but a necessity for successful policy implementation. This requires not only sound management practices but also the establishment of transparent processes that instill public trust.
The training aims to enhance understanding of the best practices relating to the NGO and Public sector and provide a premier interdisciplinary platform to discuss the most recent trends and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered, the current reforms and feasible solutions.

Some of the topics that we will discuss during the seminar include:

  • Effective governance, risk and compliance.
  • Income Tax and VAT exemption eligibility and process.
  • Regulatory reporting automation   – leveraging technology.
  • Tax planning and compliance – Employment taxes, Labour Laws, Immigration Withholding Income Tax and VAT compliance.
  • Data protection compliance.
  • KRA audit and tax dispute resolution
