About the training

Public sector management stands as the backbone of any civilized nation, orchestrating the allocation and utilization of limited funds with utmost transparency and accountability. While financial reporting serves as a cornerstone of this accountability, ensuring that public finance resources are judiciously administered, challenges persist despite existing legal frameworks.
Yet, amidst these challenges lies the opportunity for innovation and improvement. Building and strengthening institutional capacity within the public service becomes paramount. Through strategic investment in capacity building initiatives, the public sector can cultivate a workforce equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate complex financial landscapes efficiently and ethically.
Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Public Benefit Organizations (PBOs) also play an important role in promoting economic growth, developing society, improving communities and promoting citizen participation. NGOs are particularly critical to the socioeconomic development of countries where government capacity and revenues are limited.
Among the emerging trends within the sector, it is evident that NGOs and PBOs are striving to embrace higher professional standards in their management, operations, and governance. The incorporation of information technology and the evolution of audit and reporting requirements are poised to shape the future trajectory of NGOs and PBOs. Financial stakeholders hold legitimate expectations, often guided by regulatory frameworks that may be generalized and, at times, challenging to apply to spdiecific NGOs and PBOs.
The training aims to enhance understanding of the best practices relating to the Public sector, NGO and PBO sector and provide a premier interdisciplinary platform to discuss the most recent trends and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered, the current reforms and solutions adopted.
Some of the topics that we will discuss during the seminar include:

  • Legal and institutional framework of Public Financial Management.
  • Effective governance and oversight considerations.
  • Redefining Public Sector, PBOs & NGOs taxation and compliance.
  • Budgeting and Budgetary Control Mechanisms and for Government entities & Budget implementation and effective budgeting considerations for the PBOs & NGOs
  • Practical means of achieving data security.
